Challenge Statement

Video Facilitator aimed to pioneer the market by introducing multi-room functionality to their virtual meeting room software. Their goal was to revamp their mobile-responsive website to create a memorable brand that catered to their target audience.
As the UX Designer, I collaborated with a UI designer to enhance the visual design and led the User Experience Review. This involved assessing the information architecture, product strategy, interaction design, and copy adjustments. The project was completed during the Global pandemic, where Video Facilitator’s services were in high demand. The majority of their clientele comprised sales exhibitions and universities that had shifted to virtual platforms due to the pandemic. Video Facilitator provided the unique feature of hosting multiple sessions in a day, allowing users to move freely between rooms hosted by different speakers.

Challenge Statement

My focus as the UX Designer was to clarify the business objectives and create an effortless user engagement. We aimed to position the product as a tool for creating an engaging and interactive space for participants. We wanted to offer the freedom to explore different rooms, engage through polls and interact in breakout areas, just like an in-person event.
The landing page’s final design on the right demonstrates how we achieved a fun and open user experience, catering to the brand’s essence

Initial Iterations on original Video Facilitator landing page

  • Consider incorporating a “Create a free room” call-to-action that encourages users to test the tool’s functionality and experience its benefits firsthand. By offering a free trial, users can try out the product without any obligation, and gain a better understanding of its capabilities and suitability for their needs.

  • To effectively communicate the product’s value proposition, consider using a clear and concise heading that highlights the key problem the product solves. Follow this up with a subheading that showcases the product’s unique selling points. For example, “Revolutionize Your Virtual Events with Video Facilitator – The All-in-One Solution for Engaging Online Experiences.”

  • To further emphasize the product’s features and benefits, incorporate a visually appealing example of the product’s user interface as the primary focus of the landing page. This not only captures users’ attention but also showcases the product’s capabilities in a tangible and relatable way.

  • Consider adding a dedicated section that highlights the key features of the product before displaying any customer testimonials. This allows users to first learn about the unique selling points of the product, and understand why it is better suited for both businesses and users.

  • To enhance the user experience and provide social proof, consider adding a carousel of customer reviews that users can easily click through. This allows users to quickly and efficiently view multiple customer reviews in a visually engaging format.

  • To encourage users to subscribe and enter their email address, it is important to offer a valuable benefit that aligns with their interests. One such benefit could be providing information on how to run successful virtual events. By sharing insights, tips, and best practices, subscribers can learn how to maximize the potential of virtual events and create engaging experiences for their audience.

Visual Exploration

Rather than relying on traditional mood boards, our team decided to present the client with four unique design concepts that captured the brand’s lively personality. Our aim was to showcase the brand’s vibrancy and make the designs informative yet engaging.

To achieve this, we carefully selected a colour palette that echoed the brand’s logo, while infusing playful hues to create a sense of fun and joy. Each design was crafted with meticulous attention to detail, combining appealing graphics and easy-to-digest information. Through this approach, we were able to demonstrate how the brand could be brought to life in a way that was both engaging and impactful. The client was thrilled with the results, and we were able to deliver designs that not only met their brief but exceeded their expectations.

From Video Facilitator to Berst.io: How a Rebranding Helped Enhance the User Experience

Video Facilitator aimed to become the first virtual meeting rooms software with a multi-room functionality while also improving the aesthetics and personality of their mobile responsive website. Working in partnership with a UI Designer, my role was to conduct a thorough review of the user experience, including button placement, copy, and information architecture to align with the company’s unique selling proposition. This review was conducted during the Global Pandemic when Video Facilitator’s audiences were highly engaged, as businesses were compelled to host sales exhibitions and university open days remotely through collaboration software. The UX review focused on increasing the clarity of Video Facilitator’s USP, thereby enhancing user engagement with the product. Additionally, the UI refresh aimed to unify the company’s logo with the website while creating a fun and approachable branding.

Following the successful rebranding project of Video Facilitator, the company was renamed to berst.io. The rebranding effort focused on creating a new brand identity that would align with the company’s mission and values, while also reflecting its unique personality. The visual design principles that were established during the Video Facilitator project were carried over to the berst.io design, ensuring consistency and a cohesive brand identity.
The berst.io design team aimed to create a modern and innovative look and feel, while maintaining a friendly and approachable tone. The new brand name and visual identity were intended to reflect the company’s commitment to providing an easy-to-use virtual meeting platform that delivers exceptional user experience. The design team also focused on enhancing the website’s mobile responsiveness and usability, with the goal of creating an engaging and seamless experience for users on all devices.
Overall, the rebranding project was a success and helped the company to position itself as a leading player in the virtual meeting rooms industry. The new brand identity and website design have received positive feedback from users and stakeholders, and have contributed to an increase in engagement and conversions.
